LAHORE: (Friday, July 26, 2024): Punjab University Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood inaugurated the Mother & Child Healthcare Centre, free immunization program, mobile medical unit, van service for delivery of medicines, outdoor and reception equipped with modern facilities at Health Center. In this regard a ceremony was held in which PU Chief Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Akram, Head Medicine Purchase Committee Health Center Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish, Deans, HoDs, faculty members, administrative officers and employees were present.

In his address, Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood said that PU teachers, employees and students will benefit from the launch of this package related to health facilities. He said that the community of New Campus has been provided with emergency facilities at their doorstep even in the evening hours. He said that the mobile medical unit/van is a mobile mini hospital, which will have all the first aid facilities. He said that the health center ambulance facility will also be available to transfer the patients to the hospital. He said that arrangements have been made to deliver medicines to the teachers and employees at the respective addresses through medicine delivery vans. He said that in collaboration with the Health Department of the Government of Punjab, immunization and valuable vaccines for children have also been arranged, which will be available free of cost at the Mother & Child Center. He said that the system of online appointment with the doctor, re-writing of prescriptions by phone will also begin soon. He said that the availability of medicines and the supply is being ensured 100%. He praised the Chief Medical Officer Dr Muhammad Akram, Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish and the team for their excellent work. Dr Muhammad Akram said that these are historic moments regarding the health facilities in PU, for which the credit goes to the VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood. He said that despite the limited resources, PU Health Center is providing the best public health facilities to its teachers, employees and students. Prof Dr Zeeshan Danish said that VC Prof Dr Khalid Mahmood formed a team of PU professionals to complete this work, which worked hard day and night and completed their work in a few months. He said that the completion of machinery and human resources equipped with modern facilities in PU Health Center will also be done soon.
