Plantation Drive Inaugurated at CEMB on Independence Day by VC Punjab University August 14, 2024 – A plantation drive was inaugurated today at the Centre of Excellence in Molecular Biology (CEMB) by the Vice Chancellor of the University of the Punjab, Prof. Khalid Mehmood, along with Prof. Moazur Rahman, Director of CEMB, on the occasion of the 77th Independence Day." The olive plantation at CEMB, sponsored by Horti Organic Group and the Agri-Tourism Development Corporation of Pakistan, was acknowledged by the Vice chancellor Prof. Khalid Mehmood as a significant step towards environmental conservation. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Zubair Ahmed from the University of Maryland, USA, along with Prof. Rehan Sadiq, Director of CAMB, and former directors Prof. Tayyab Husnain and Prof. Ahmad Ali Shahid. Senior professors, including Prof. Kausar Malik and Prof. Idrees Khan, were also present. The event saw active participation from present and former CEMB researchers and staff members, who planted olive trees and offered prayers for the progress and prosperity of a Green Pakistan. The plantation drive reflects the institution's dedication to environmental sustainability and reinforces the national objective of increasing green cover.
